This is our in-house laboratory.  Here we diagnose the health of your pet. We are fitted with a complete Idexx Laboratory. This lab allows us to obtain rapid results for most routine tests in about 15 minutes.
There are four basic wellness tests we use to diagnose the health of your pet:
  1. Complete Blood Count (CBC)  This tests for anemia, infection, inflammation, and the healthiness of blood cells.
  2. Chemistry Tests This panel surveys many of the organ systems of the body to make sure they are working normally.
  3. Thyroid Function Tests These tests are useful in diagnosing increased (hyper) or decreased (hypo) functions of the thyroid gland.
  4. Urinalysis This assesses the health and function of the urinary system. It is used to diagnose kidney infections and can aid in diagnosing metabolic diseases.  It can also be important in early detection of kidney diseases in our older patients.

  • Fecals - these are placed on slides and evaluated by trained technicians to see if your pet has any intestinal parasites.
  • Ear Smears - These slides are evaluated to see if your pet may have an infection so we can treat it accordingly.
Microscopic Evaluations:
  • Fine Needle Aspirate (FNA) - This occurs when the doctor finds a lump on your pet and needs to evaluate the cell contents.
  • Skin Cytology - Impression slides or scraped samples of your pet's skin will be evaluated by a doctor to check for infection
  • Mite Checks - Samples can be obtained from the ear or the skin. A trained technician then evaluates the slide to see if mites are present.
  • Dermatophyte Test Media (DTM) - This test is used to rule out any possible fungal skin infection in both dogs and cats. It is an in-house test that uses hairs that have been plucked from the suspicious area on the animal. The test is then stored in our lab and checked daily for color change or growth.
