Charitable Work

At Newtown Vet, we strive to create a culture of compassion by helping those in need. We offer regular support to a variety of charitable organizations, both animal and human-related, within both our local and global communities.

Chapstick Charity

Each month, we sell chapstick at our front desk to benefit a select charity. Chapsticks sell for $1.00, and all proceeds go directly to that month’s charity. With the help of our extremely generous clients, we have managed to sponsor pets in need, local non-profits, and even help local families in need.

Annual Coat Drive

Every November, Newtown Vet hosts a community coat drive, and collects new or gently used jackets and coats for adults, children, and even pets. We also accept pet beds and blankets. These donations are then distributed to the appropriate local charities who can deliver them to those who are most in need.

Christmas Family Sponsorship

Every Christmas, Newtown Vet works with a local social worker to adopt one or two local families that could benefit from a helping hand. At a time of year when we are celebrating, no family should be left out and no children should go without gifts. Thanks to contributions from our clients, we have been able to provide gifts, household goods, and an incredible amount of Christmas cheer to our adopted families. Each year, we are astounded all over again by just how generous and kind our clients truly are.

Newtown Vet’s Annual Pet Fair

Our largest charitable effort is our yearly Pet Fair, for which Newtown Vet absorbs all production costs. The day is free for all guests, with Newtown Vet raising money solely through raffles, our duck pond, and our donation bins to benefit all participating charitable organizations. Half of the day’s income is divided between the charities that are on site for the fair; the other half of fundraised money is given to one particular organization, chosen in advance. Each year we select a different charity to benefit.

People and Paws for a Worthy Cause

In 2016, Newtown Vet developed a separate charity initiative dedicated to hosting yearly events to benefit worthwhile charities. Beginning with a 5k race and dog walk in November of 2016, Newtown Vet plans to continue this work with a variety of events and fundraisers in the future. By doing so, we hope to connect with people with many different interests, help them to connect with their pets in new ways, and in doing so, benefit an underserved charity. Unlike our Pet Fair charitable efforts, People and Paws is intended to benefit people who are in need, not just pets.

The Aark Wildlife Rehabilitation Center

Newtown Vet cannot treat wild animals, but we strongly support The Aark’s efforts to care for and rehabilitate our local injured and orphaned wildlife. The front desk is always accepting donations on behalf of The Aark. To learn more about their admirable work, please visit
