In a matter of weeks, Hurricane Harvey and Hurricane Irma have both devastated the US, leaving communities lying wrecked in their wake. Just like the people affected by these disasters, many animals have been left homeless, seriously injured, and in dire need of our help. Newtown Vet is partnering with Tyrol Insurance in the hopes that together we can make a difference.

Our effort is two-fold, with a variety of ways to help:

Cash/In-Kind Donations

St. Hubert’s Animal Welfare Center is acting as a local Emergency Placement Partner for the Humane Society as they shuttle animals out of Texas and Florida. After arrival at St. Hubert’s, animals and available supplies are distributed amongst shelters in the Tri-State area. In one weekend alone, 230+ animals arrived in their care.

Donate Supplies

We are collecting gently used pet items to be distributed amongst shelters and rescue groups in NJ and PA. Examples of items needed include:

  • Pet carriers of all sizes
  • Kitten Milk Replacer (KMR)
  • Unopened canned and bagged cat, dog, kitten and puppy food (no fish, please)
  • Scoopable/clumping cat litter
  • Soft treats, hard toys and Kongs of various sizes
  • Creamy peanut butter
  • Feliway spray
  • Clean blankets and towels

These items can be brought to either Tyrol Insurance or Newtown Vet Hospital for redistribution. Donations will be accepted through the end of September (or longer if needed).

Although monetary donations allow rescue groups to use gifts where they’re most needed, donations of any kind are greatly appreciated. Together, by giving what we can, we will make a difference in the lives of the thousands of animals affected by these horrific disasters.

Thank you for your help,
